Biografia
Ricardo Parreira fundou a PHC Software em 1989, aos 22 anos, e liderou-a durante 35 anos até à sua venda à Cegid em janeiro de 2025, uma das saídas tecnológicas mais acompanhadas em Portugal. Sob a sua liderança, a PHC cresceu para mais de 37 000 empresas clientes em cinco países, assente numa convicção que era invulgar na altura: que a felicidade é rentável. Esse compromisso valeu à empresa o título de «Empresa Mais Feliz de Portugal» em 2021 e a Parreira o prémio «Happy Boss» em 2023, a par da Medalha de Mérito de Ouro da Câmara Municipal de Oeiras, em reconhecimento da contribuição da PHC para a região e para o país.
O seu compromisso social acompanhou a atividade empresarial, apoiando projetos locais em torno de cada escritório da PHC e centrando-se particularmente na educação, sobretudo como doador fundador da TUMO Lisboa. É também professor de liderança e gestão na Universidade Católica Portuguesa, na Nova School of Business and Economics e no ISCTE, autor do livro «Gestão Descontraída, mas Profissional» e investigador com trabalhos publicados sobre KPIs e OKRs na «IEEE Engineering Management Review».
Hoje, desde a saída, dedica-se a ajudar Portugal a crescer através de melhores gestores: escreve uma newsletter semanal gratuita sobre gestão, apresenta o podcast «Cool but Pro», orienta empreendedores, investe em várias empresas e está a escrever um segundo livro, desta vez sobre a própria saída, para ajudar outros fundadores a prepararem a sua.

Biography
Ricardo Parreira founded PHC Software in 1989, at 22, and led it for 35 years until its sale to Cegid in January 2025, one of the most closely watched technology exits in Portugal. Under his leadership, PHC grew to more than 37,000 client companies across five countries, built on a conviction that was unusual at the time: that happiness is profitable. That commitment earned the company the title of Happiest Company in Portugal in 2021 and Parreira the Happy Boss award in 2023, alongside the Municipality of Oeiras’ Gold Medal of Merit, recognising PHC’s contribution to the region and the country.
His social commitment ran alongside the business, supporting local projects around each PHC office and focusing particularly on education, most notably as a founding donor of TUMO Lisboa. He is also a professor of leadership and management at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Nova School of Business and Economics, and ISCTE, the author of the book Gestão Descontraída, mas Profissional, and a published researcher on KPIs and OKRs in IEEE Engineering Management Review.
Today, since the exit, he is focused on helping Portugal grow through better managers: writing a free weekly newsletter on management, hosting the podcast Cool but Pro, mentoring entrepreneurs, investing in several companies, and writing a second book, this time on the exit itself, to help other founders prepare their own.
